This tea is also called Pu-erh Gong Tin, which translates from Chinese as palace or imperial Pu-erh. The high-quality product got its name because during the reign of the Qing Dynasty it was available only to members of the imperial family.
The status of the drink is indicated by the fact that this particular tea was presented as a gift to high-ranking representatives of foreign countries to establish diplomatic relations. Several centuries have passed since then.
Gong Ting is still produced from selected buds of tea bushes that grow on the territory of the Chinese province of Yunnan. Mist-covered mountains, warm and humid climate combined with fresh mountain air create unique and beneficial conditions for growing high-quality tea raw materials in these places. Today, this variety of elite tea is no longer an inaccessible rarity that cannot be found on sale. However, its name, preserved since the reign of the imperial dynasties, recalls the times when it was available only to crowned heads, and testifies to the high quality of this tea.
Imperial Pu-erh tea has a brown-red infusion color and a rich aroma with a woody tint and notes of prunes.
Palace Pu-erh has a rich sweet taste, pronounced and enveloping, with a nutty aftertaste and a long aftertaste.
